(Round Rock) - The Seguin High School baseball team made the most of its opportunity to play at Dell Diamond, home of the AAA Round Rock Express, with a 7-1 victory over Smithville on Friday.
After two scoreless innings, the Matadors brooke loose for five runs in the top of the third and added single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Hayden Haas and Camron Gutierrez each collected two hits and and two RBIs, and Haas scored twice.
Robert McCall went 2-4 and drove in a run. Manuel Castillo recorded a base hit and an RBI.
Cody Kachmar pitched the first three innings and picked up the win after allowing the lone Smithville run on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
Kendall Harborth worked two perfect relief innings on the mound, and Joseph De La Cruz notched a strikeout in a scoreless seventh to keep the shutout intact.
Seguin (4-8, 1-0) resumes District 26-5A play on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. road game at Dripping Springs.
