(Seguin) – Texas Lutheran softball players Maitlin Raycroft and Kelsie McEachern have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, following the Bulldogs' four-game sweep of Schreiner University.
Raycroft, a junior right-hander, was named the SCAC Pitcher of the Week for a second consecutive week and for the third time this season.
Raycroft tossed her third consecutive no-hitter in a five-inning 8-0 win over Schreiner on Sunday. She followed that performance with a two-hit shutout Monday against the Mountaineers. Raycroft extending her scoreless inning streak to 24.
Raycroft struck out nine in her no-hitter and added six more Ks in the two-hit shutout. She walked just one batter in 10 innings of work.
Raycroft's three no-hitters this season are already tied for the seventh-most in a single season in NCAA Division III history. The all-time single-season record is five.
McEachern, a junior first baseman led the TLU offense in four-game sweep of Schreiner. She hit .667 with seven runs driven in and four runs scored. She doubled three times and finished with a slugging percentage of 1.333.
McEachern went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run, a single and a double and four RBI in TLU's 8-0 victory in the early game Monday. She raised her season batting average 91 points over the four games.
