(Lubbock) – Seguin High School graduate Brig Gerlich is piling up an impressive collection of postseason awards in the wake of an outstanding junior season for the Lubbock Christian University baseball team.
Gerlich, a right-handed pitcher for the Chaps, was named Second Team All-South Central Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association, and was also a Second Team All-Heartland Conference selection. He also received Honorable Mention on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-South Central Region team.

The former Matador went 11-0 on the mound this past season, and was the only pitcher in the nation at the NCAA Division II level to finish the year without a loss and at least 11 wins.
Gerlich tied for the Heartland Conference lead in wins (11) and starts (14), tied for eighth in the league in strikeouts (61), and ninth in innings pitched (85).
He finished the 2014 season with a 3.92 ERA and led the Lubbock Christian pitching staff with three complete games.
Gerlich helped the Chaps go 39-10 and finish first in the Heartland Conference standings with a 26-4 league record.
He was named the Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played during the week of April 21.
Gerlich, an imposing presence on the mound at 6’3” and 240 lbs, began his college baseball career at Odessa College before transferring to Lubbock Christian.
A 2011 graduate of Seguin High School, Gerlich was a First Team All-District performer in basketball and baseball as a senior in the Matador athletic program.
