(Wimberley) – The Navarro High School volleyball team turned in a successful showing at the
Wimberley Tournament over the weekend, winning five of its six matches over the course of the two-day event.

Tournament matches were played under the best-of-three format.  The Panthers won their first three matches on Friday, cruising past Lockhart in two straight games (25-16, 25-13), doing the same to Karnes City (25-10, 25-10), and surviving a brief hiccup against Blanco to win in three (25-11, 21-25, 25-11).

Navarro split its first two tournament matches on Saturday, falling to future District 26-4A opponent Canyon Lake in two games (25-18, 25-23), and earning a 2-0 victory over Comfort (25-21, 25-16).  The Panthers finished the weekend with a 2-0 sweep (25-22, 25-20) of Burnet in the consolation bracket finals.

The 5-1 tournament showing in Wimberley came after the Panthers split their first two matches of the season earlier in the week.  Navarro edged Lockhart in five games last Monday and fell to San Antonio-East Central in three on Tuesday.
