(Goliad) - The Marion Bulldogs fell short in their quest to string two straight road wins together Friday night, falling to perennial regional power Goliad 53-13 at Tiger Stadium.
Marion used a touchdown pass from Tayler Mills to Jacob Berry and a four-yard run by Kage Armstrong to take a 13-6 lead in the first quarter, but the Tigers took control from that point, scoring 47 unanswered points.
Mills threw for 200 yards and a touchdown on 10 completions in 29 attempts, but the Goliad defense intercepted him four times. Berry ran for 84 yards and a score on 13 carries.
Jackson Allen totaled 87 receiving yards on four catches, and Berry added two grabs for 55 yards.
Matt Quigley recorded a team-high six tackles, and Jacob Wallace coralled Marion's only interception. Brevin Wilson recovered a Goliad fumble.
The Bulldogs (2-2) return to Veterans Stadium this Friday for a 7:30 p.m. home game against Florence to wrap up non-district play.
