TLU men fall to Trinity, tie Schreiner
(Seguin) – After a 5-0 loss to Trinity on Friday, the Texas Lutheran men’s soccer team salvaged a 1-1 tie against Schreiner on Sunday at TLU’s Gustafson Field in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Trinity scored all five of its goals in the second half of Friday’s match.

Evenly matched in period one, TLU and Trinity came away with four shots and two corner kicks, respectively. TLU goalie Brendan Soto registered two saves for the Bulldogs.

Austin Michaelis, Christian Sakshaug, and Kamran Moussavi each registered goals for the Tigers. Michaelis totaled three goals (one assisted, two unassisted) in the first 10 minutes of play in the second half.

Soto allowed four goals and tallied four saves for the Bulldogs in 67:30 minutes of play. Tanner Horelica allowed one goal and totaled two saves in the remainder of the match.

David Ching led the Bulldogs with 10 shots (two on goal) in Sunday night's match against Schreiner.

The Mountaineers started off scoring in the 10th minute of play, but TLU reciprocated with a goal by Dylan Dunfee to tie up the match. The goal was assisted by Ching in the 30th minute.

Shots a plenty for TLU who dished out 34 total shots in the match, with 11 on goal. However, SU's keeper Brandon Anselmi held strong between the posts, making ten saves for the Mountaineers.

Brendan Soto tallied three saves for the Bulldogs. Both teams were guilty of having ten fouls and received yellow cards (two for SU and one for TLU).

TLU (2-5-2, 1-3-1 SCAC) will play host to University of Dallas in their next SCAC match this Friday in Seguin at Gustafson Field. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.

Tough SCAC weekend for TLU women in losses to Trinity, Schreiner
(Seguin) – The Texas Lutheran women’s soccer team suffered a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference losses at home this past weekend, falling to Trinity 13-0 on Friday and to Schreiner 2-1 on Sunday at TLU’s Gustafson Field.

Trinity registered eight goals in the first half, and added five more in the second. The Tigers defense held the Bulldogs to seven total shots, to their 30 throughout the match.

TLU keepers Stephanie Barrientos and Mikaela Gilbert split time in goal for the Bulldogs. Barrientos made one save and allowed eight goals. Gilbert allowed five goals while making three saves in the second 45 minutes.

Texas Lutheran out shot Schreiner 18-13 on Sunday, but the Mountaineers made the most of their eight total shots on goal, racking up two goals within five minutes of one another in the first half.

Tanya Prazelini opened up scoring for the match in the 14th minute of play. With a loose ball coming off the keeper's gloves, Prazelini sunk a shot across the box to the bottom right corner. The goal was assisted by Raquel Morris.

TLU keeper Stephanie Barrientos registered four saves for the Bulldogs before allowing Alex Gill and Lindsey Fitz for the Mountaineers to score. Ruth Blackburn assisted on both goals.

Mikaela Gilbert contributed two saves for the Bulldogs in the second 45 minutes of play.

The Bulldogs are set to host the next SCAC match against University of Dallas on Friday at Gustafson Field at 5 p.m.
