Seguin volleyball streak ends in loss to Dripping Springs
(Seguin) - Seguin volleyball concluded the first round of the District 26-5A schedule Friday with a 3-0 loss to Dripping Springs at Goldie Harris Gym.

The Tigers snapped the Matadors' four-match winning streak by finals of 26-24, 25-14, and 25-19.

Abby Cheek led Seguin offensively with 11 kills, Megan Wilke set for 22 assists, Kaylie Koenen totaled 24 digs, and Desiray Rodriguez came up with two blocks. Wilke and Presley Engelke each delivered one ace.

Seguin is 5-2 in district play, 21-12 overall. The Mats are in third place behind Dripping Springs (7-0) and Boerne-Champion (6-1) at the midpoint of the 26-5A schedule. Kerrville-Tivy (4-3) sits in fourth place, and Alamo Heights (4-4) in fifth.

Seguin opens the second round of district play tonight with a 6:30 p.m. match against Marble Falls at Goldie Harris Gym.

Marion volleyball drops district match to Schulenburg
(Marion) - Marion suffered its first District 27-3A volleyball loss of the season Friday night in a 3-0 home setback to Schulenburg, 25-15, 25-22, and 25-20.

The Bulldogs are 6-1 in district play at the mid-point of the 27-3A schedule, and trail the first-place Shorthorns (7-0) by one match in the standings. Marion's season record is 13-11.

Brianna Randle put away 10 kills to lead Marion offensively. Madelyn Abrameit delivered 18 assists. Elizabeth Abrameit, Eva Ashley, and Kyleigh Mulanax each had one service aces. Mulanax came up with nine digs and two blocks as well.

Marion opens the second round of district play tonight at 7 p.m. with a home match against Stockdale.
