TLU volleyball notches home win over Concordia Texas

(Austin) - The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs scored a non-conference road victory Tuesday evening with a four-set win at Concordia Texas.

The Bulldogs defeated the Tornados 14-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-13.

TLU freshmen Hannah Mikelonis and sophomore Makenzie Griffin led the Bulldogs in kills. Mikelonis paced the Bulldogs with 15 kills, and Griffin added 13 kills and three block assists. As a team, TLU registered five total blocks for the match.

Bulldog senior Mathis Popelsky tallied 19 digs and two serving aces. Freshmen setter Kionasina Nu'u delivered 19 assists and recorded nine digs, and sophomore Jaci Chambers picked up 24 digs and contributed two aces. .

TLU hit .181 for the match and served up five aces. In the fourth set, the Bulldogs produced 15 kills and just four errors in 45 attempts for a percentage of .244 to the Tornados .023.

The Bulldogs' next match is a home non-conference match against Moravian College. The Bulldogs host the Greyhoundss at 6 p.m. at TLU's Susan Duke Court in Tostengard Activity Center.
