(Killeen) – Texas Lutheran Men's Golf came home with a runner-up team finish at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at Stonetree Golf Club in Killeen, Texas.
Trinity overtook the Bulldogs in the tournament's final 18 holes. The Tigers won the event with a final-round 297 that put them nine shots clear of the Bulldogs, who followed up Monday's 290 with a 308 on Tuesday.
Trinity's final team score came in at 589. TLU finished at 598.
Trinity's Dawson Dalley won the individual title by two shots over TLU senior Wyatt Blezinger (Industry/Bellville) and TLU freshman Matthew McArthur (New Braunfels/New Braunfels).
Blezinger, McArthur and Dalley were part of a four-way tie for the individual lead after Monday's 18 holes. Dalley won the tournament with a final-round 74. Blezinger and McArthur posted 76s to tie for second with Luke Smith of Hardin-Simmons, who closed with a 72.
TLU put three players into the top 10 - Blezinger, McArthur and Bulldog junior Colin Uecker (Kerrville/Tivy). Uecker also posted a 76 in the final round. He carded a 73 on Monday.
The Bulldogs' Evan Skarr (Coleraine, Minn./Greenway) and Nathan Haley (Richmond/Foster) claimed ties for 34th and 48th, respectively.
After Trinity and TLU, Hardin-Simmons (599), UMHB (600), McMurry (607), University of Dallas (610), UMHB "B" (617), Howard Payne (618), LeTourneau (621), and Louisiana College (657) rounded out the field.
