(Seguin) – The Texas Lutheran Offensive Line was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for Saturday's dominant performance under challenging circumstances in the Bulldogs' 47-30 Homecoming win.
Against American Southwest Conference opponent Louisiana College, the Bulldogs played without starting center Grayson Olguin (out due to injury), inserted a new starter (Travis York) into the lineup, and moved two regular starters (Christopher Bennett and Andy Day) to different positions.
York, an area product and former Seguin High School standout, made his first career start (playing left tackle). Regular left tackle Day moved to right tackle, and regular right tackle Bennett took over at center.
Left guard Alejandro Briseno and right guard Johnny Garcia manned their regular positions.
With those five linemen starting and on the field for nearly the entire game, the Bulldogs posted six rushing touchdowns, 358 net rushing yards and held the ball for just over 40 minutes.
Bulldog running backs Christopher Monroe and J.C. Garcia each rushed for more than 100 yards. Monroe totaled 125 yards on 22 carries, and Garcia had 120 yards on 16 carries.
Monroe scored on runs of 18, 10 and two, and Garcia had TD runs of 50 and eight.
The Bulldogs tallied 538 yards of total offense and ran 94 plays.
TLU (3-2 overall, 3-1 American Southwest) now ranks 23rd in the NCAA Division III for rushing yards per game, at 236.4 yards. The Bulldogs also rank 12th in sacks allowed, at 0.6 per contest.
The Bulldogs hit the road for this week's game against East Texas Baptist University. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in Marshall, Texas.
