TLU men close out HSU Abilene Intercollegiate with 5th-place finish
(Abilene) - Texas Lutheran Men's Golf closed out play Tuesday in the Hardin-Simmons University Abilene Intercollegiate with a final-round team score of 299 that left the Bulldogs with a fifth-place team finish.

At Diamondback Golf Club, the Bulldogs had all five players post scores in the 70s in the final round and improved on Monday's 309 score by 10 shots.

TLU finished behind fourth-place Mary Hardin-Baylor by one shot and behind third-place Southwestern and second-place Hardin-Simmons by seven and eight shots, respectively.

Concordia Texas ran away with the team title. The Tornados bested host HSU by 23 shots.

Concordia's Ryan McGinley won the tournament with two rounds of 70. Teammate Logan Young was second with a 72 and a 69.

TLU was led by Wyatt Blezinger's sixth-place finish. Blezinger (Industry/Bellville) produced a 74 and a 73.

Colin Uecker (Kerrville/Tivy) and Nathan Haley (Richmond/Foster) collected placements of 11th and 17th. Uecker followed up Monday's 75 with a second 75. Haley rebounded from an 80 yesterday to shoot 75 today.

Matthew McArthur (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) and Connor James (San Antonio/Johnson) tied for 23rd. McArthur shot 81-76, and James shot 80-77.

The HSU Abilene Intercollegiate was the final tournament of the Bulldogs' 2017 fall season.

TLU women post new season-best at HSU Abilene Intercollegiate
(Abilene) - One day after setting a season-best team score, Texas Lutheran Women's Golf posted a new season-best. In Tuesday's final round of the Hardin-Simmons Abilene Intercollegiate, TLU recorded a team score of 327.

At Diamondback Golf Club, the Bulldogs shaved two shots off of Monday's team score of 329.

Kaley Martin (Cypress/Cypress Woods) led TLU in scoring on Tuesday with a 79. She moved up to 28th place. Taylor Poteet (Pasadena/Deer Park) carded an 82 and finished in a tie for 16th.

Summer Swift (Fentress/San Marcos) tied for 13th overall after rounds of 77 and 83, and Kristen Cox (Utopia/Utopia) came home in 29th after an 85 and an 83.

Halie Lewis (Schulenburg/Schulenburg) cut off seven shots from her Monday score. She posted an 85 on Tuesday.

Southwestern won the team title with rounds of 307 and 306. Emily Campbell of Southwestern took the individual crown with a pair of 73s.

Southwestern was followed in the team standings by: Mary Hardin-Baylor (629), University of Texas at Dallas (633), Concordia Texas (645), Hardin-Simmons (652), TLU (656), Centenary (675), McMurry (726), and Howard Payne (745).

The Bulldogs' 2017 fall season concluded with the HSU Abilene Intercollegiate.
