(San Antonio) – Texas Lutheran finished its volleyball regular season with an 0-3 weekend at the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio, dropping non-conference matches to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday and to UT-Dallas and Concordia Texas on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor 25-21, 25-20, 25-15 on Friday.
Makenzie Griffin led the team with 10 kills. Bryten Mitchan and Cailey Young shared the only block for match to go along with four kills, respectively.
Jaci Chambers defended the backcourt picking up 16 digs. Mathis Popelsky contributed eight digs and two aces. Kionasina Nu'u led the squad in aces with three.
TLU fell 25-12, 25-20, 25-14 to UT-Dallas and 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 to Concordia, bringing the Bulldogs to a 16-15 overall record.
Against the Comets, outside hitters Makenzie Griffin and Bryten Mitchan each recorded eight kills for TLU. Kelly Jurden and Kionasina Nu'u delivered 14 and 12 assists. Mathis Popelsky added the only serving ace for the match.
Against the Tornados, Griffin led the Bulldogs with seven kills. Cailey Young and Hannah Mikelonis each posted six kills, respectively. Jurden dished out 17 assists, and Jaci Chambers collected 11 digs.
The Bulldogs gear up for the SCAC tournament on the Schreiner campus in Kerrville this weekend. TLU holds the No. 4 seed and is set to play Austin College at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
