Marion volleyball handles Boling in 3A bi-district match

(Cuero) – Marion is headed to the area round of the 3A Region IV volleyball playoffs after outlasting Boling 3-1 in Tuesday’s bi-district match at Cuero High School.

In the Bulldogs vs. Bulldogs matchup, Marion controlled the first two sets 25-15, 25-18 to put Boling on the brink of elimination.

Boling extended the match and its season with a 25-21 win in the third set, but Marion recovered to survive the fourth 25-22 and punch its ticket to the second round of the playoffs.

Brianna Randle led Marion's attack with 13 kills, and Samantha Hopper chipped in with eight. Madelyn Abrameit set for 29 assists and collected 11 digs to share the team lead with Kyleigh Mulanax. Hopper and Abrameit each sent four aces over the net, and Mulanax recorded two blocks.

Marion’s season record is 18-12. The Bulldogs face Poth in the area round tonight at the Blossom Center in San Antonio at 6:30 p.m.
