(Seguin) – The Seguin boys basketball team notched two victories and suffered two losses last week in the annual Matador Classic tournament at Goldie Harris Gym.
The Matadors split Thursday’s pool play games, defeating San Antonio-Burbank 71-57 and falling to San Antonio-Kennedy 69-55.
Trystin Silas poured in a game-high 30 points in the win over Burbank, and Michael Mickles reached double figures as well with 11 points. Evan Head finished with eight, and Christian Martinez chipped in with seven.
In the loss to Kennedy, Silas scored 20 points, Martinez 10, and Mickles eight.
Seguin played in the Silver Bracket on Saturday, suffering a 59-44 loss to San Antonio-Marshall and grinding out a 61-59 win over San Benito in overtime.
Justice Head scored 11 points against Marshall, Evan Head put in 10, Silas totaled eight, and Martinez had seven.
Silas led Seguin with 24 points in the win over San Benito, Martinez chipped in with 11, and Evan Head added 10.
After a 2-2 tournament showing, Seguin’s season record is 4-4. The Matadors host San Antonio-Veterans Memorial at Goldie Harris Gym tonight at 6:30 p.m.
