(Seguin) – Texas Lutheran junior guard Cami Davis has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance against Concordia University (TX) last Tuesday in Austin.
Davis, a former Marion High School standout, is a transfer from Univ. of Texas at Tyler and has made starts in all seven contests her first season with the Bulldogs.
In the win over CTX, Davis erupted in the first quarter of the game as she netted 17 points. She finished the night with 29 total points, 10 made field goals and three three-point shots. All three of those shots at the arc came in the first two minutes of the first quarter.
Davis also added five assists and two steals in her 38 minutes of play. She hit a career high .714 field goal percentage in the victory over CTX.
Davis is TLU’s leading scorer this season with an 18.4 average. She has hit 48.4 percent of her total field attempts, 38.1 percent of her threes, and 89.3 percent of her free throws.
Both Texas Lutheran basketball teams are back in action tonight with road games against McMurry in Abilene. The women start the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m., and the men follow at 7:30.
