Hailey Weidenfeller (No. 6)
(Geronimo) – Navarro senior Hailey Weidenfeller was selected to the TGCA All-State volleyball team and named the District 27-4A Offensive MVP to headline a group of seven Panthers who received on-court post-season recognition in 2017.

Weidenfeller’s classmate Bailey Wozniak also claimed a major district award, as the head coaches in 27-4A voted her the Setter of the Year.

Weidenfeller finished the year with 314 kills, 42 aces, and a team-high 57.5 blocks, while Wozniak distributed 1,029 assists while delivering 56 aces and 36.5 blocks.

The duo helped the Panthers reach the 4A Region IV championship match for the second straight season. After winning the district title and advancing five rounds in the UIL playoffs, Navarro fell short of a second consecutive state tournament berth in a 3-0 loss to Needville. The Panthers went 39-6 in Nicole Blakeman’s first year as head coach.

The Panthers’ First Team All-District selections include three seniors – outside hitters Peyton Roach and Allie Benner, and libero Sydney Sahd.

Roach led Navarro in kills with 364 while sending 43 aces over the net and making an impact defensively with 406 digs.

Benner totaled 249 kills, and Sahd paced the Panthers’ defensive effort with a team-best 734 digs.

Navarro’s Second Team All-District selections include sophomores Kelly Helms and Carolyn Burch. Helms recorded 236 kills and 39 blocks, while Burch led the team in service aces with 58 and came up with 261 digs.

Benner, Roach, Weidenfeller, Wozniak, and senior Madison Murphy also earned spots on the TGCA Academic All-State team.
