Navarro girls cruise past Shiner in final non-district game
(Shiner) – The Navarro girls basketball team built a 24-point lead by halftime and never looked back in a 68-33 road blowout of Shiner on Tuesday afternoon.

The Panthers raced out to a 43-19 cushion in the first two quarter and used a 25-14 scoring edge in the second half to build the final 35-point margin.

Emily Hinkelmann poured in 20 points to lead four Panthers in double figures. Amber Reneau added 17, Haleigh Ortiz 11, and Ali Harless 10. Hailey Teasley finished with five points, Molly Vrana three, and Anna Longoria two.

Navarro’s season record is 19-5. The Panthers open the District 27-4A schedule Friday with a 6:30 p.m. home game against Wimberley in Geronimo.

Navarro boys drop road tilt to San Antonio Christian
(San Antonio) – Cold shooting and turnovers plagued the Navarro boys basketball team Tuesday night in a 44-30 road loss to San Antonio Christian.

The Panthers only hit 39 percent of their overall field goal attempts, went 3-9 from three-point range, and missed eight of their 15 free throws. Navarro turned the ball over 16 times.

Will Eveld was the only Panther to score in double figures, finishing with 12 points. Rosendo Cuevas finished with six, and Christian Soto had four. William Tate, Daniel Pina, Mason McCaig, and Kimble Harrison added two apiece, and Pina grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

The loss drops Navarro’s season record to 7-8. The Panthers hit the road to face Canyon Lake in Fisher on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
