TLU women split SCAC road games

(Irving, Colorado Springs) – The Texas Lutheran women’s basketball team opened a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road trip with a 58-48 win over the University of Dallas on Friday in Irving, but stumbled on Sunday in Colorado Springs, falling to Colorado College 84-77.

In Dallas' Maher Center on Friday, the Bulldogs posted 22 points in the paint and went 42.9 percent (6-for-14) from the arc.

TLU shot 40.4 percent (23-for-57) for the game - shooting 48.3 in the first half and 32.1 in the second. The Bulldogs out-rebounded UD 36-35.

Presley Stephens and Cami Davis led the Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points apiece. Davis added two steals, four assists and three rebounds.

Stephens posted an impressive four blocks and eight rebounds.

Michelle DeCoud paced the Crusaders with 17. She added eight rebounds, four assists and one steal.

Colorado College used a 38-22 edge in the paint to hand TLU the seven-point loss on Sunday.

CC improved to 7-11 overall and 4-3 in conference. TLU dropped to 6-11 overall and 2-4 in SCAC play.

In the Tiger's Reid Arena, TLU roared back from a 12-point deficit in the third quarter and tied the Tigers on two occasions late.

A Cami Davis fast-break lay-up put the Bulldogs within two points, 79-77, with 1:11 left on the clock.

Dominique Campos and Davis paced the Bulldogs with 23 points each. Campos added six assists and a steal. Davis pulled down four rebounds, had four assists and made to steals.

Presley Stephens added 10 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks for TLU. Abby Hroch contributed six points to go along with two blocks, three rebounds and two assists.

Nia Duplain grabbed 11 rebounds for the Tigers. CC out rebounded TLU 41-27.

Casey Torbet led CC with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Jade Odom and Evan Underbrink each scored 16. Odom added four steals for the Tigers.

TLU is back in Seguin to host Dallas in a SCAC matchup this Friday at 7:30 p.m. as part of a men’s and women’s doublehader.. Live stats and video can be found at tlubulldogs.com.
