Mats compete in New Braunfels cross country event

(Seguin) - The Seguin varsity boys cross country team finished seventh among 17 schools in the Unicorn Cross Country Invitational at the Comal County Fairgrounds in New Braunfels on Saturday.

Jerry Garcia posted the Matadors' finish, coming 16th in a field of 137 runners with a time of 10:34 in the two-mile race.

Other Seguin boys team members competing include Cheney Stephenson (30th - 10:55), Louis Flores (36th - 11:05), Dylan Gonzales (90th - 12:01), and Leo Costilla (91st - 12:02).

Brenda Vargas, Nayeli Segura, and Carsyn Dietz represented Seguin in the varsity girls division. Vargas placed 30th out of 101 competitors with a time of 13:28, Segura came in 37th (13:43), and Dietz finished 44th (13:48).

Seguin's next meet is this Saturday at the FEAST Patriots Invitational, at the River City Church athletic fields in Selma.
