Marcelo Castillo, of Seguin, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the age of 84.
He was born in Clay, Texas on January 16, 1933 to Pablo and Guadalupe (Soliz) Castillo. He is preceded in death by his son, Eddie Castillo. Survivors include his beloved children, Donna Lopez and husband Porfirio, Michael Castillo and partner Beatrice, Maryann Garcia and husband Hector, Patricia Castillo and Ricky Villarreal, Dee Velasquez and husband Steve, Josie Mayas and husband Jerry, Albert Acala and wife Janie; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as ex-wife, Mary Sanchez Castillo. Marcelo was a loving father and grandfather. He was a proud veteran that served our country in the US Army for 20 years, serving in the Vietnam War. In the military he learned many skills and traditions, and throughout the years, he never forgot them. He was very organized, always made sure his shoes were shined and was rarely seen not wearing his military jacket, in which he wore with honor. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed watching them play with his friends and family. Marcelo will be missed by those that knew and loved him. Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with an Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in which Military Honors will be rendered.
