|Maurice David West, age 82 of Kingsbury, passed away on February 23, 2018. |
Visitation will begin Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Kingsbury Cemetery. Maurice was born on July 2, 1935 in Calhan, Colorado to Ernest Loren and Elsie Kate (Lessor) West. In 1936 the West family moved to Texas and eventually moved to San Antonio where Maurice graduated in 1953 from South San High School. He attended Court Reporting School in Plainview, Texas. His first job was as an Official Court Reporter for Judge Hippo Garcia in Bexar County Court at Law #2. When Judge Garcia was appointed as a United States District Judge, Maurice was sworn in as an Official Court Reporter at the Federal level on October 7, 1980 and continued working for Judge Garcia. After Judge Garcia retired, Maurice worked for United States District Judge Orlando Garcia. On December 31, 2012 Maurice officially retired. After retiring he enjoyed farming and ranching and spending time with his family, his friends and his dogs. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving companion, Leonora Schmidt Kuhn; his daughter, Deborah Ann West; his son, Robert Allen West and wife Molly; his grandchildren, Robert (Bobby) West, Andrew West, and Jennifer West; brother, Loren E. West and wife Alice; niece, Kimberly Hopf and husband John; nephew, Michael West; several great nieces, great nephews, other loving family members and many friends.
