What is your current occupation (or where do you attend school),
and what does that involve?
"I teach pharmacy tech classes at Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos."
 
What do you do off the clock “Just for fun?”
"I love lifting weights and working out at Seguin
CrossFit....definitely the best gym in Seguin!"
 
What city and state were you born in?
"Phoenix, Az, I've been in Seguin since 2003"
 
Who are the members of your immediate family?
"My family is husband Michael McHenry and our son Nathaniel McHenry. He's a junior at Seguin High School. (He is the soloist playing the
Bassoon this year during the halftime show!)"
 
What is the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced?
"Waking up one morning at the age of 8-9 years old with Bell's Palsy
(half of my face paralyzed) was scary, not knowing if you'd ever get
movement back but thankfully, I had excellent doctors that used shock
therapy to get the nerves to act again. It wasn't fun, very painful."
 
What is your favorite TV show and movie?
"TV Vampire Dairies, Secrets and Lies, reality TV is always fun
watching. Movies is a toss up between Fast and the Furious movies,
Titanic, and Pearl Harbor."
 
What type of music do you enjoy (favorite band, song, etc…)?
"I enjoy all types...I guess it would be Green Day, Ozzy, or Cake
haha."
 
What is your favorite Seguin business and restaurant?
"Seguin's Gift and Gourmet is great and I like to go to JJ's Cafe, El
Ranchito or Garcia's."
 
What is something folks may not really know about you?
"I grew up auto racing – off road racing. I pre-ran the Baja 500 with
my dad, quarter midgets, sprint go-karts, sprint car racing. "
 
If you could assemble a dinner party with any five guests (living or
dead) -excluding immediate living family members - who would they be?
"My Grammy and Nana, Jenn Edler (friend who passed), Van Gogh, Dale
Earnhardt Sr "
 
What are your roles in the community?
"I am the Chaperone VP for the Mighty Matador Band. Nothing gives me
more pleasure than to help them, see them play and grow up. I would
do anything for our kids."
 
Discuss your professional background/achievements/leadership roles.
"I am a certified pharmacy technician, with 17 years of experience
that ranges from working retail, infusion, management, and now
teaching pharmacy tech class. I earned the MTC Western Region
Educator of the Year Award at Job Corps for 2016."
 
What are the proudest moments in your personal life or in your career?
"I am most proud of my son Nathaniel. He works hard and has a heart
of gold. I am also proud of my students, seeing them succeed, making
a great life for themselves knowing I played a small part in their
life."
 
What do you believe are the strengths of this community?
"Sticking together and giving back to the community. Seguin is also a
welcoming town."
 
What do you find as the most interesting thing about Seguin?
"The history of Seguin is amazing – one of the oldest towns in Texas.
You can learn a lot here!"
 
What are your future plans?
"I'd like to travel. However, I will go wherever God leads me."
 
What is your message for the community?
"Come to the Annual Band BBQ on Nov. 10th. It is a great way to
support the Matador band program. I would love to see you there."
