What is your current occupation?
"I am the Enrichment Coordinator at Sprouts Learning Academy and a substitute teacher for Seguin ISD."

What does that involve?
"I plan lessons each week that are centered around our monthly theme. These lessons include sign language, spanish, math, science, field trips, guest speakers and snacks. Tons of learning fun!"

What do you do off the clock "just for fun"?
"When we get the chance, my family enjoys camping, fishing and swimming."

When and where were you born?
"I was born in Alice, Texas. My family moved to Seguin before my first birthday."

What's the most recent book you've read?
"Listening Is An Act Of Love by Dave Isay, it is based on interviews from the Story Corps Project."

What is the best advice you've ever received?
"You can not control what others may or may not do, but you are the only one in control of your own actions and reactions."

What is the biggest challenge you've ever faced?
"Getting up everyday, living and breathing. Life is the biggest challenge we all face."

If you had to describe yourself in just two words, what would they be?
"Persistent and inquisitive"

What inspires you?
"My children. They are amazing. They teach me new and wonderful perspectives daily."

If you could assemble a dinner party with any five guests (living or dead), who would they be?
"A senior citizen to teach perseverance, a veteran to teach sacrifice, a nurse to teach compassion, a homeless person to teach humility, a child to offer for the future. The world is invited. These are the guest of honor."

What is your favorite TV show and why?
"I really don't watch TV much, because of our schedules, but the The Middle is hilarious!"

What are your roles in the community?
"Other than work, I am a Girl Scout Leader and a volunteer chaperone and props assistant and concessions worker for the Seguin High School Matador Band."

What is your educational background?
"I graduated from Seguin High School and Career Point Business School and I am currently attending BYU-Idaho online in their Pathways Program."

What's your professional background/achievements/leadership roles?
"I'm not sure what else I can add that I haven't already said."

Share your family.
"My mama Grace Felker, my husband Darryl and our 10 kids. Five are grown, five are at home. We have two grandsons and 2 grand daughters."

What are the moments in your life and career that are your proudest accomplishments?
"I guess the proudest thing for me is realizing I can overcome tough times and knowing that I can work hard and set goals. I continue to learn and grow every day. That is amazing to me."

What brought you to Seguin and why did you choose to live here?
"I grew up here. This is my home. I love the people and I'm proud to be a part of our community."

What do you believe are the strengths of this community?
"The willingness of everyone to pitch in and lend a helping hand."

What initiatives or changes would you like to see in Seguin that would further strengthen the community?
"I would like to see more things geared to families. We have a lot, but I would love to see more, like a roller rink or such. We do have a lot though!"

Do you have any family roots/history in the area?
"Well my family moved here before I was a year. My husband's family is from here, so my kids have roots here."

What are your plans for the future, personally and/or professionally?
"I plan to graduate in five years with my degree! Right now I'm doing my basics, but I will set my major next year!"
