Blood Drive
KWED Radio/Seguin Daily News is having a Community Blood Drive on Thursday, July 24 from 10:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Silver Center. All presenting donors will receive a donor ball cap and mini physical. Donors who give blood twice this summer will be entered to win a pair of plaza level Spurs tickets and parking pass to 10 home games.

Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group
The Country Church of Marion hosts an Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group each 3rd Monday of the month at 10 a.m. in the Educational Building. The next meeting is July 21. For more information, call 914-4749.

Love Approach Trainings
South Texas Pregnancy Care Center is offering Love Approach Trainings July 21 through July 23 and Aug. 18 through Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the GVEC Center. For more information, call 303-2151.

Welcome Bags
Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce Education Partnership Committee will be distributing 175 Welcome Bags to new teachers in Seguin Area schools. Businesses are asked to donate gift certificates or products to be included. Donations are due to the Chamber office between July 22 and Aug. 1 anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Summer Meal Program
SISD is offering the Summer Food Service Program at Seguin High School now through July 24. Breakfast is served from  7:30 to 8 while lunch is available from 11:30 to 1 p.m. The program is operational Monday's through Thursday's, provides meals free of charge to children from ages 1 to 18. Adults interested in participating will be charged $1.90 for breakfast and $3.25 for lunch.

Brown Bag Luncheon
The Guadalupe County Master Gardeners present their Brown Bag Luncheon on Thursday, July 24 at the Seguin Public Library, at 12 p.m. featuring Jose Contreras, Fire Wise Specialist and Master Gardener. Admission is free and feel free to bring a lunch.

Barbeque Dinner and Auction
The Kingsbury Volunteer Fire Department is having its 45th Annual Barbeque Dinner and Auction on Saturday, July 26 at Fire Station #1, Hwy 90 East and FM 1104. Barbeque plates are $7 for adults and $6 for children and will be served from 5:30 to 9. Live auction begins at 7 and a free dance will start at 9. Other events include a bake sale, silent auction, games, water slide and more.

Sunday Country Dance
Geronimo VFW is having a Sunday Country Dance, featuring The Countrymen Band, on July 27 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. The kitchen opens at 2 and an $8 donation is asked. The hall is smokefree and open to everyone.

Free Swim Day
The Lions Clubs of Seguin and the Parks and Recreation Wave Pool present a Free Swim Day for "Pack the Bus" on Sunday, July 27. Each person entering must bring a school supply and enter the pool between 1 and 4 p.m. to get in free. All ages are welcome.

Leadership Seguin Class
Applications for the 2014-2015 Leadership Seguin Class are now available. The semester kicks off with a welcome reception in late Aug. followed by a weekend retreat Sept. 13 and Sept. 14. The first of nine monthly sessions begin on Sept. 18. The group will also decide on a community service project that will be completed by next summer. The deadline to sign up is Aug. 11. Seguin Youth Sports League
The Seguin Youth Sports League-CFPO will be having its summer football skills camp for all ages July 28 through July 31 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Vogel Elementary. The cost is $25 and participants will need to wear shorts, t-shirt and cleats or tennis shoes. A camp t-shirt will be given to everyone with a paid registration. Cheer camp and registration is on July 28 and July 29 from 6 to 7:30. There is no charge and the deadline to register is Aug. 2. Registration for the fall football season will also be available. Collecting for Pack the Bus
All locations of American Bank of Texas, Bank of America, Shrimp Barn and Barnard Insurance will be collecting for "Pack the Bus" now through Aug. 10. Donations may be dropped off through the window or in the lobby.

Anger Management/Parenting Classes
Precious Life Services will be offering 6 to 18 week Anger Management and Parenting Classes every Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at 1420 N. Austin St. Suite 5 and Suite 6. Fee is by sliding scale. For more information, call 372-5980.

2014 Community Service Award
Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2014 Community Service Award. Nominees must be a resident of Guadalupe County for at least 5 years and have made a significant contribution to the betterment of Seguin or Guadalupe County. Nominees who currently hold a political office is not eligible. To nominate someone, write a brief narrative as to the accomplishments of the individual and why they should receive the award. Nominations must be submitted by July 31.

RSVP America Reads Program
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for volunteers to be trained as a reading tutor for the America Reads Program. Volunteers will be placed in a school of one's choice in Guadalupe County. For more information, call 379-0300.

Tennis Sessions
Daytime Sweat Sessions Seguin Area Community Tennis Association presents Daytime Sweat Sessions on Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The clinics are open to all high school, junior high and younger tennis players at all experience levels. Summer Reading Clubs
The Seguin-Guadalupe County Public Library is inviting students in grades 1st through 6th to participate in the Summer Reading Club and children ages 3 through Kindergarten to join the Read To Me program. Fan Drive
The Seguin Fire Department is hosting its annual Fan Drive. Fans are available to households without air conditioning and may be picked up at the Municipal Court/Fire Administration building at 660 South Hwy 46 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. A picture ID and proof of residency is required. Limit one fan per household. Donations of fans or money may also be made. For more information, call 401-2310.

LULAC Community Garden
The Seguin LULAC Community Garden has green beans ready for picking. The public is invited to bring a bag and pick what they need. The Community Garden is free to the community and is planted and maintained by Seguin LULAC Council 682.

RSVP Trip
RSVP is sponsoring a 10 day motor coach tour Oct. 10 through Oct. 19 to see the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Laughlin. The trip includes a free day in Las Vegas to explore the famous Las Vegas Strip. To receive a color flyer with details, call 379-0300.

Caregiver Support Group

Seguin Premier Toastmasters
Seguin Premier Toastmasters meet on Wednesday's at 6 p.m. at the IHOP in Seguin. The purpose of Toastmasters is to empower the individuals to become better communicators and leaders through overcoming fears of public speaking and increasing confidence. For more information, call 379-0760.

Spay/Neuter Assistance Program
Seguin Animal Services encourages the public to take advantage of the low-cost spay/neuter program for all owned dogs residing within Seguin city limits. Cost of surgery depends on weight of animal. Surgeries performed at participating local veterinary clinics. Vouchers are issued on a first-come, first serve basis and expire within 60 days. AARP Smart Driver Course
The AARP Smart Driver Course will be offered on July 29 at 9 a.m. at the Silver Center. The cost is $15 with an AARP card or $20 without. The class is accepted by most insurance companies for a discount on auto insurance rates but cannot be used for ticket dismissal. Register for the half day class by calling 303-6612.

Class #26 Enrolling
Guadalupe County Master Gardeners Class #26 is from Aug. 13 through Dec. 10 on Wednesday's from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $190 and the registration deadline is July 31. Anyone interested in enrolling may visit guadalupecountymastergardeners.org or call 624-1114.

First Friday Feast
Geronimo Lions Steak Dinner First Friday Feast is scheduled on Aug. 1 at the Big Red Barn from 6 to 8 p.m. Dinner is $15 and includes a Rib eye steak, salad, baked potato, garlic bread, dessert and tea. There will also be live entertainment. Proceeds benefit the "Pack the Bus" program.

25th Silver Anniversary
Seguin Guadalupe County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce presents its 25th Silver Anniversary Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Coliseum. Efrain Guerrero, Happy the Comedian, will provide some entertainment. Tickets will go on sale in the first week of Aug.

"Pack the Bus" Collection Day

The 10th Annual Geronimo Sporting Clay Shoot & Gun Raffle is scheduled on Aug. 9 at 401 Harborth Hill from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 5 stations with 60 targets for $55 or 8 stations with 100 targets for $75.
