(Marion) – Marion High School seniors Madelyn Abrameit, Brianna Randle, and Samantha Hopper headline a group of six Bulldogs who landed on the 27-3A All-District team as voted on by the district’s head coaches.

Abrameit was unanimously voted the District MVP after averaging a team-high 17 points per game at the point guard position for 14th-year head coach Kollyn McWhinney’s 2018 squad.

Hopper was voted the district’s Defensive MVP for the second straight season.

Randle was unanimously voted to the All-District first team after averaging 13 points per game this season. She was also selected to play in the 18th annual Texas Roundup All-Star game, featuring the top 24 sub-5A players in the state, in Maypearl on March 17.

Senior post Madison Batey and sophomore forward Lizzie Abrameit each made the All-District second team, while junior guard Becca Svochak landed on the Honorable Mention list.

Each of the aforementioned players received Academic All-District honors, as did Lily Bek, Sierra Knight, Shelby Osborne, Breanna Valadez, manager Kendra Koege, and student trainers Betteance Purcell and Scarlett Kunde.

Marion went 25-12 this past season, including a 12-2 run to the District 27-3A championship, and the Bulldogs advanced three rounds in the UIL playoffs before falling to Vanderbilt-Industrial in the 3A regional quarterfinals.
