District Court Jury
District Court Jury for Monday, Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. in the Guadalupe County Courthouse has been cancelled, do not appear. If been summoned for Grand Jury, please appear. Grand Jury is still scheduled.
The Guadalupe County Republican Women are hosting a forum for Republican candidates on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Silver Center. Opposed candidates will have time to introduce themselves and answer two written, randomly chosen questions from the audience. There will be a cash bar and light snacks. Geronimo VFW 8456 is having a Country Dance, featuring The Good Ole Boys Texas Dance Band, on Friday, Jan. 10 from 8 to 11:30 p.m. The kitchen opens at 6:30 and admission is $8. KC Chicken Sale
Whole barbeque chicken will be available for purchase for $6 on Sunday, Jan. 12 after all of the masses at St. James Catholic Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church as well as behind the K.C. Hall. from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Seguin Police Youth Scholarship Program and the Smokey Joe Williams Memorial Fund Scholarship is offering two four-year scholarships for 2014 seniors at Seguin High School. The Seguin Police Youth Scholarship is open to all seniors who have graduated from the Seguin DARE Program and who have displayed academic achievement. The Smokey Joe Williams Memorial Fund Scholarship is open to all seniors who meet the academic standards necessary to graduate, complete the requirements to be a Varsity Letterman on at least one athletic team sanctioned by SISD. Applications must be submitted by March 7. Applications and instructions are available at seguintexas.gov.
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is sponsoring a nine day motor coach trip to Amelia Island, St. Augustine and Jacksonville, Florida March 22 through March 30. The cost per person is $860 for double occupancy and includes lodging, admissions to all attractions, most meals, and gratuities for the driver and step on guide for Jacksonville. After School Program
Boys and Girl's Clubs of South Central Texas "Seguin Ext." After School Program is offered Monday through Friday from 3 to 6:30 p.m. for kids in Kindergarten through 12th grades at 624 Zorn St. The cost is $60 per month with a $50 registration fee. MTS Adopts Online Ticketing System
Mid-Texas Symphony has adopted an online ticketing system. In addition to purchases in the lobby and pre-concert telephone or mail order sales, concertgoers now have the option of purchasing online by visiting mtsymphony.org. Donations and Volunteers Needed
The Cranny Thrift Store needs donations of clothing, household goods, books, furniture, etc. that can be resold. 100% of profits go to the Guadalupe Valley Family Violence Shelter. RSVP America Reads Project
RSVP America Reads Project invites current tutors and anyone wishing to learn more about the program to informational/training meeting at Seguin Public Library on Jan. 13 at 1:30 p.m. and Jan. 16 at 9:30 a.m. Meetings cover all aspects of the program which matches volunteer tutors with at risk readers in elementary schools. U.S. Navy Band
The U.S. Navy Band will perform on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Jackson Auditorium on the TLU campus. The Concert Band is the United States Navy's premier wind ensemble and includes 56 performers. Tickets are required and will be released Jan. 13.

Guadalupe County Chapter Native Plant Society Of Texas presents "The Historic Trees of Texas" on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at St. John's Lutheran Church, located off FM 465 in Marion. NARFE Tax Tips for Seniors
New Braunfels TX National Active Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 672 will meet on Jan. 17 at the Comal County Senior Citizen Center. Social time is from 9:30 to 9:45, followed by the business meeting from 9:45 to 10, followed by the program, Tax Tips for Seniors, from 10 to 11. The Guadalupe Master Gardeners Organization is presenting "Preparing Your Spring Vegetable Garden" on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Mary B. Park Celebration/Symbolic March
The Martin Luther King Park Celebration is scheduled on Jan. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Central Park. The speaker will be Tim Barr and music provided by Bread Crawford & Delivered. The Symbolic March will begin line up at 12:45 and the parade will start at 1. The walk will go from Central Park to TLU. The MLK Program will begin at 2 at TLU Jackson Auditorium with speaker Rev. Comal Country Music Show
The next Comal Country Music Show, featuring voices of The O'Neal Bro's, Bob Appel, and Nattie Abrameit is scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 111 Landa St. in New Braunfels. Doors open at 6 and sandwiches, desserts and beverages will be available for purchase. A $5 cover charge is asked to provide proceeds for the Knights of Columbus charities.
Natives to Fly For
The Guadalupe County Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will present "Natives to Fly For," a workshop on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Schertz Civic Center located at 1400 Schertz Parkway. Leaders will cover butterflies, hummingbirds, song birds and wildscaping and exhibitors will show native plants and gardening books. The cost is $40 per person and includes a box lunch.
