Summer Camp 2013
Seguin Outdoor Learning Center presents Summer Camp 2013 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. during the weeks of June 10, June 17 and June 24. Stepping Stones is for kids who have completed Kindergarten through 3rd grade and Adventure Camp is for children who have completed the 4th and 5th grade. Hunter's Education Orientation and Certification is July 8 through July 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prices vary and the registration deadline is May 15. For more information, call 379-7652.
Duck Fest
Navarro Education Foundation presents the Duck Fest on Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walnut Springs Park. There will be games for kids, food, entertainment by the Navarro Jazz Band and the duck race will start at 12. A Duck Fest Warm-up Party is scheduled on Thursday, May 16 at the Grain Bin from 5:30 to 7 p.m., which is the last chance to adopt ducks before race day. The first 25 kids get a free souvenir duck.
Silver Center Country Music Show
The Silver Center Country Music Show is on Thursday, May 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 5 and and hamburgers, barbeque on bun, frito pie, french fries and dessert will be available. Admission is $5. For more information, call 914-3535.
PFLAG Seguin Meeting
PFLAG Seguin has it's next meeting on Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. For directions to the meeting place call 491-1055. PFLAG is a nation-wide confidential support group for parents, family and friends of gays and lesbians. All LGBTs are welcome also.
Luling Foundation Field Day
The 86th annual Luling Foundation Field Day is on May 16 at 7:30 a.m. in the Luling Foundation Demonstration Barn, located at 523 South Mulberry Ave. in Luling. The field day is free and open to those involved in agriculture and agribusiness. The agriculture education activity includes tours, speakers, demonstrations and exhibits, plus an opportunity to network. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by a complimentary breakfast, exhibit viewing and welcome. Participants will board a hay trailer for farm tours at 8:30, followed by another exhibit viewing at 11. A free catered barbecue lunch is provided, afternoon presentations begin at 1 p.m. and post-field day equipment demonstrations begin at 3.

Friends of Riverside will have their semi-annual meeting on Thursday, May 16 at Seguin City Hall at 2 p.m. The public is invited.
Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes.
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, the Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Department of State Health Service and the Institute for Public Health and Education Research is offering a five class series with nine topics called "Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes." Classes are on May 16, May 23, May 30, June 6 and June 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hierholzer Hall at the First United Methodist Church. Classes are free. To enroll, call 303-3889.
Guadalupe County Master Gardeners Meeting
The Guadalupe County Master Gardeners will meet Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. in the AgriLife Extension Building, located at 210 E. Live Oark. Silver Center Friday Night Dance

SHS Project Graduation Garage Sale
Seguin High Schools Project Graduation is having a garage sale on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Tom Crump Gym. The public is invited.
Seguin Volleyball Association Summer League
Seguin Volleyball Association presents Summer League 12 weeks finish on Aug. 19, 21st and 22nd. Money is due Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meeting will be on May 22 at 7 p.m. at Hall of Fame. The Men's "AA and A" league begins on June 3, Women's "AA, A and C" will start on May 29 and Men and Women's "B" league will begin on May 30. Team fees are $90 per team per league and player fees are $13.75 per player.
Zumba Fitness Glow Party
There will be a Zumba Fitness Glow Party on Saturday, May 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Seguin High School Tom Crump Gym. Doors open at 12. Tickets are $10 pre-sale, $15 at the door, $5 for students and the vendor fee is $25. Free gift for the first fifty presales. 100 % of ticket sales benefit Seguin High School Project Graduation. Health and Safety Fair
Woodmen of the World presents a free Health and Safety Fair on Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m. at the Woodmen of the World Lodge 3040 Family Center, located at 1832 W. Kingsbury St. The event includes blood pressure readings, vision tests, diabetic vpt tests, bmi readings, nutrition information and much more. The public is invited.
Parkinson's Support Group Meeting
There will be a Parkinson's Support Group meeting on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Eden Place Apartments Clubhouse, located at 1220 Jefferson Ave. These meetings are free and open to anyone who may have a family member or friend who may have Parkinson's. 2013 Cops and Kids Picnic
The 2013 Cops and Kids Picnic will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Starcke Park Large Pavilion. There will be music, food, and games. All children 12 and under will be given a free lunch plate consisting of a hotdog, chips and a drink. A free raffle ticket will be available for a chance to win a bike. Must be present to win.
3rd Annual Harley Fest

Near Death Studies Group

Volunteers Needed for Summer Reading Program
Seguin-Guadalupe County Public Library is in need of volunteers for the Summer Reading Program. Teenagers and adults are asked to fill out an application as soon as possible. The library is located at 707 E. College St. For more information, call 401-2422.
Kids Summer Camp
The Seguin Outdoor Learning Center is having a Summer Camp for kids in Grades K through 5. Additionally, a one-week Hunter's Education Certification Course is being offered for kids aged 9 through 12 which will be taught by certified instructors from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Possible Cancellation of Veterans Van Transportation
The transportation available to veterans to medical appointments in the VA system may be cancelled. The service will only be available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday effective immediately. Appointments are to be scheduled after 9 a.m. Anyone interested in applying for a volunteer drivers position may call 303-4188 ext. 358.
LBHS Scholarship Applications
Lincoln Ball High School Alumni Ex-Students Legacy Scholarship is now accepting applications from qualified graduationg Seniors. Applicants do not have to reside in Seguin and the students must be related to a Lincoln Ball High graduate or ex-student or related to an administratior, teacher, staff person who was employeed at the school. SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans
Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loans are now available to 22 Texas counties including Guadalupe and Comal. SBA eligibility covers both the economic impacts on businesses dependent on farmers and ranchers that have suffered agricultural production losses caused by the disaster and businesses directly impacted by the disaster. Eligibility for these loans is based on the financial impact of the disaster only and not on any actual property damage. The deadline to apply is Dec. 24. Donations and Volunteers Needed
The Cranny Thrift Store needs donations of clothing, household goods, books, furniture, etc. that can be resold. 100% of profits go to the Guadalupe Valley Family Violence Shelter. Texas Lions Camp is looking for special disabled children between the ages of 7 to 16 to attend camp for one week in Kerrville. TLU Quilt Raffle
Members of Texas Lutheran University's Administrative Professional Support Staff (APSS) invites the surrounding community to participate in a quilt raffle. Funds generated from the ticket sales will be used for beautification projects around campus which is the core mission of the APSS. The quilt was created here in Seguin and consists of t-shirt blocks from various departments and events. Several other prizes will be offered. Seguin Sports Boosters Golf Tournament
The Seguin Sports Boosters annual fundraising golf tournament is Monday, May 20 at the Bandit, on FM 725 past Lake McQueeney. The tournament format is three-person scramble with Peoria scoring, and three team entry options are available. Platinum level ($1,500) includes one three-person team, large sign at the pavilion, team gifts, and two hole signs. Gold level ($1,000) includes one three-person team, large sign at pavilion, team gifts, and one hole sign. Black level ($500) includes one three-person team and one hole sign. All entry levels include green fees, cart, range balls, box lunch, and dinner. Payouts will be awarded to four places. There will also be a longest drive contest, closest to the pin contest, two mulligans for $20 per team, and Buy and Drive for $20 a team. Summer Art Camp
Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin presents the 4th annual Summer Art Camp June 10 through June 21. The camp is broken into 2 one-week sessions running Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will target children ages 6 through 13 and provide artistic and cultural experiences. Each student may be registered for one session. Sessions will be capped at 15 students per class for a total of 45 students per week. Fees are free to students who qualify for the National School Lunch Program, $25 for one student, $40 for two students (siblings living in the same household), $55 for three students (siblings living in the same household) and $70 for four students (siblings living in the same household). Breakfast and lunch will be provided Monday through Thursday by the National School Lunch program. Each parent/guardian is responsible for providing breakfast and lunch on Friday. Registration applications can be downloaded from teatrodeartes.org or picked up at Teatro Cultural Arts Center from the Art Camp Folder. Registration forms must be turned in on or before Friday, May 24 at the Teatro's Cultural Arts Center.
16th Annual Festival of Flowers
The 16th annual Festival of Flowers is on Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alzafar Shrine, located at 901 N. Loop 1604 W. Admission is $6 for adults and parking is free. Guadalupe County Fair Association is hosting a 'Junk From Your Trunk Sale' on Saturday, June 22, at the Guadalupe County Fair Grounds. Set up is at 7 a.m. and sales will start at 7:30. Sale will end at 2 p.m. All Proceeds from the sale will go to benefit the Guadalupe County Fair Association Scholarship Fund. 11th Annual Lifegate Falcon Athletics Golf Tournament
The 11th Annual Lifegate Falcon Athletics Golf Tournament is on Saturday, June 29 at 8 a.m. at The Golf Club, located at 300 Chapparal Dr. Registration is at 7:30 and lunch and beverages will be provided. The fee is $90 for individual players and $320 for a team. Prizes will be awarded. Proceeds benefit Seguin Lifegate Christian School Athletic Program. David's Ride
The 8th Annual David's Ride is on Saturday, July 6 at 7 a.m. at McQueeney Baptist Church. There will be routes of 25, 40, 70 and 100 miles. Proceeds benefit the ministry of Camp Agape, a Christian bereavement camp that ministers to the hearts of hurting children ages 6 through 12 and gives them hope for a new tomorrow.The pre-registration fee is $30 and is $40 on the day of the ride. Breakfast tacos will be provided at 6 a.m. and barbeque lunch plates at 11 a.m. Packet pick-up is July 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The 86th annual Luling Foundation Field Day is on May 16 at 7:30 a.m. in the Luling Foundation Demonstration Barn, located at 523 South Mulberry Ave. in Luling. The field day is free and open to those involved in agriculture and agribusiness. The agriculture education activity includes tours, speakers, demonstrations and exhibits, plus an opportunity to network. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by a complimentary breakfast, exhibit viewing and welcome. Participants will board a hay trailer for farm tours at 8:30, followed by another exhibit viewing at 11. Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loans are now available to 22 Texas counties including Guadalupe and Comal. Seguin Sports Boosters Golf Tournament
The Seguin Sports Boosters annual fundraising golf tournament is Monday, May 20 at the Bandit, on FM 725 past Lake McQueeney. The tournament format is three-person scramble with Peoria scoring, and three team entry options are available. Platinum level ($1,500) includes one three-person team, large sign at the pavilion, team gifts, and two hole signs. Gold level ($1,000) includes one three-person team, large sign at pavilion, team gifts, and one hole sign. Black level ($500) includes one three-person team and one hole sign. Seguin Sports Boosters Golf Tournament
The Seguin Sports Boosters annual fundraising golf tournament is Monday, May 20 at the Bandit, on FM 725 past Lake McQueeney. The tournament format is three-person scramble with Peoria scoring, and three team entry options are available. Platinum level ($1,500) includes one three-person team, large sign at the pavilion, team gifts, and two hole signs. Gold level ($1,000) includes one three-person team, large sign at pavilion, team gifts, and one hole sign. Black level ($500) includes one three-person team and one hole sign. All entry levels include green fees, cart, range balls, box lunch, and dinner. Payouts will be awarded to four places. There will also be a longest drive contest, closest to the pin contest, two mulligans for $20 per team, and Buy and Drive for $20 a team. Guadalupe County Fair Association is hosting a 'Junk From Your Trunk Sale' on Saturday, June 22, at the Guadalupe County Fair Grounds. Set up is at 7 a.m. and sales will start at 7:30. Sale will end at 2 p.m. All Proceeds from the sale will go to benefit the Guadalupe County Fair Association Scholarship Fund. David's Ride
The 8th Annual David's Ride is on Saturday, July 6 at 7 a.m. at McQueeney Baptist Church. There will be routes of 25, 40, 70 and 100 miles. Proceeds benefit the ministry of Camp Agape, a Christian bereavement camp that ministers to the hearts of hurting children ages 6 through 12 and gives them hope for a new tomorrow.The pre-registration fee is $30 and is $40 on the day of the ride. Breakfast tacos will be provided at 6 a.m. and barbeque lunch plates at 11 a.m. Packet pick-up is July 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.
